Non-linear Narrative
The Adventures of "Alan" THE DUCK!!
Non-linear Narrative
Non Linear Narrative is a narrative technique where the narrative does not follow the direct patterns of events featured in a story or certain plot line. This technique are often used in Hypertext , literature and film. Within hypertext the non linear narrative technique is used to interact with the users. For example, html websites where hyperlinks are shown within a certain topic leading to another different topic. It is like branches of a tree where different branches can lead into a different ending.
This is my version of a Non Linear Narrative: "Alan the Duck" (by clicking on its head, beak or glasses you can get different out comes of the story)
(Me and my fellow students, Andres Vasquez, Jasper Shiner, Josh Brealey and Daniele Palombo has collectively collaborated to come up with this idea.)
OTHER EXAMPLES OF NON-LINEAR NARRATIVE!
Chris Milks "The Exquisite Forest is a example of a Non-Linear narrative. In this interactive art project, Chris Milk asks the users to play along and participate in his project. This project is probably the best example of Non Linear Narrative as it contains literately trees and branches of different stories that can lead on to a possible different ending. Already, the home screen for this website shows an example of its Non Linear nature through the use of hypertext, where the users are given an option of diffrent paths they can go in to; either to view the 'concept', 'the forest', or 'the thearte'.
